Coleto Creek Blended Whiskey

Many whiskey drinkers are confused as to what constitutes a blended whiskey.  In Canada, all whiskey is blended so if you love Canadian whiskey then you like blended whiskey!  As compared to bourbon, blended whiskeys are made up of different types of whiskey all blended together.

You may ask why bother?  Blending whiskey can give you a completely different flavor.  For example, if you like smoother whiskey, maybe something to mix with a soda, then this is a great option.<

Coleto Creek Blended Whiskey uses a proprietary blend of light whiskey (whiskey aged in used bourbon barrels and distilled to a higher proof) and bourbon along with a special blending agent that helps encourage the vanilla flavor coming from the oak casks.

Mash Bill

Often folks ask what the mash bill is for a blended whiskey.  That is a more difficult question to ask, because each whiskey used in blending has a different mash bill.  Our whiskey is made up of several whiskeys including bourbon and different light whiskeys.  Light whiskey is similar to bourbon, but it’s distilled to a higher proof and usually is made up of 100% corn and aged in used barrels.

100% Distilled in the USA

Current batches have been distilled to perfection by a world class mid-west distillery.   This helps us ensure consistency with the distillate, which eventually goes into the barrels.  Distillation is important, but it is only one part of the equation.  Mashing, aging and blending are equally important!

Aged in New American Oak Casks

Aging helps mellow and mature the whiskey.  Flavors like vanilla and caramel come from the barrel.  We add a blending agent after the barrels are mature to help the whiskey mix well for bottling.

Blended and Bottled in Houston, Texas

After distillation, barrels are shipped to age in Houston where we eventually blend and bottle them by hand.  Each batch is slightly different, making whiskey is an art and a craft!
